Brief Overview The students will be able to identify past and present technology use in the United States Post Office, United Parcel Service, and Federal Express delivery service.

Learning Objectives The students will be able to write a list of the past and present technology usage of the United States Postal Service, United Parcel Service, and Federal Express delivery service.
Materials Needed Paper and pencils; chalk and chalkboard or whiteboard and marker
Detailed Activity Steps
  1. Have students brainstorm the names of mail and package delivery services, and write these names on the board.
  2. Give a brief overview of USPS, UPS, and FedEx.
  3. Instruct students to explore how technology has changed within these companies.
  4. Review the definition of technology.
  5. Demonstrate how the students are going to draw a chart to record their findings from the internet about the companies.
  6. Provide the students with websites that they can access for the information.
  7. The students will discuss their findings with the class.
Theory basis Trait and Factor Theory
Evaluation/Assessment The students will present their findings to the class. The instructor will monitor the discussion to insure that the students have accurately assessed the technological differences between the past and present use of technology within the package delivery industry.
Comments This activity may take more than one day.
Enhancement Activities The students will write a paragraph that describes the duties of a mail carrier of the past and a mail carrier of the present. This information is located on the websites provided by the instructor.
Adaptation for at risk kids The students will work in pairs. Both students will be responsible for creating a chart.
