Explore Paramedic Technology
Paramedic faculty and current students will offer demonstrations of our state-of-the-art paramedic simulation laboratory. Participants will have a chance to learn what a paramedic can do by practicing invasive advanced life support skills on human simulators and manikins. Participants will extricate a patient from a simulated vehicle, place a breathing tube into a human simulator, and see their heart rhythm.

A Fun Look at the Career Path of a Welding Artist
A light hearted look at how a wonderfully exciting and rewarding career can come from capitalizing on one's education. Hosted by Michael Patterson, who graduated from WACC's Welding Program. He spent seven years welding inside a nuclear powerplant and 11 summers welding in Antartica for the National Science Foundation. He currently is a Penn College Faculty member and has his own metal sculpting business called "Steel the Wind".

Power the Electromotive Dragster!
Utilizing the voltage of multiple batteries in series the DC electromotive dragster hurtles towards the finish line with good power, clean emissions, and precision reliability. With simple instruction participants can connect the batteries in series and start the dragster.

Honda – The Power of Dreams
Dreaming about a career in the automotive industry? Have some questions? Honda has some answers. Our discussion will include today's computer technology in Honda vehicles, a hands-on demonstration of diagnostic test equipment on Honda vehicle control systems. Also, there will be demonstration and discussion of Hybrid and Hydrogen technology, and finally a look at career possibilities with Honda and the automotive industry.

Game Programming with Kodu
Learn how to create simple games using the Microsoft Kodu program. Kodu allows you to create exciting games quickly. The games then may be played on the computer or be ported into an Xbox console. This is an extended time period and uses two sessions: 9:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Simulation in Nursing
This hands-on workshop offers students the ability to become familiar with nursing simulation equipment, learn basic nursing skills (including taking a patient’s vital signs, and proper hand washing), and hear about the exciting opportunities in the nursing profession.

Occupational Therapy Assistant: Skills for the Job of Living
Students will a have hands-on experience exploring treatment activities commonly used in occupational therapy practice. Students will participate in activities to develop fine motor skills and balance in pediatric clients and adaptive strategies for activities of daily living for individuals with physical disability.

Dental Hygiene: A Career For You?
Come and visit the dental clinic and learn about the dental hygienists' role in patient education. We will use a computer-based education program to observe some of the ways this is accomplished. Participants will have the opportunity to perform hands-on skills to determine the plaque levels on fellow classmates.

Radiography: What Is It?
Students will identify various human skeletal bones and then will be given the opportunity to see how x-rays are used to produce an image (Radiograph). The students will be shown how x-rays work, expose a phantom body part and then develop the film in the darkroom. Each student will be given a radiograph of a phantom body part to take home with them.

Introduction to Surgical Technology
Experience mock operating room demonstrations using real surgical equipment and instruments. Hands-on demonstrations include: appendectomy, tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, and use of a variety of suturing equipment.

Basketball Grab
Each participant will have the opportunity to learn about the New Holland Excavator. Participants will learn safety practices and controls. Participants will then have the opportunity to go one-on-one with the machine by picking up basketballs from construction cones and slam dunking them in a trash can.

What is Emergency Management?
In this presentation, students will learn the fundamentals of emergencies, including how individuals and families are impacted during disasters and how first responders and government agencies prepare for and respond to major disasters.
