The Art of Design
Do you like to design things? If you are creative and inventive, you can turn the marvelous thoughts bouncing around in your head into real objects. In this workshop we will talk about the design process, draw sketches, and make a finger casting. We will look at potential problems with these designs and evaluate how to make them commercially viable.

Explore Paramedic Technology
Paramedic faculty and current students will offer demonstrations of our state-of-the-art paramedic simulation laboratory. Participants will have a chance to learn what a paramedic can do by practicing invasive advanced life support skills on human simulators and manikins. Participants will extricate a patient from a simulated vehicle, place a breathing tube into a human simulator, and see their heart rhythm.

Hybrid Automotive Technology for the 21st Century
Sessions will cover basic information about hybrid vehicle system interactions, specifically how the internal combustion engine and/or electric motor power the vehicle during different modes of operation. A late model Ford hybrid will be connected to a PC through a Ford VCM to allow a technician to operate systems, gather data, and run self test.

Honda Ė The Power of Dreams
Dreaming about a career in the automotive industry? Have some questions? Honda has the answers. Our discussion will include today's computer technology in Honda vehicles and a hands-on demonstration of diagnostic test equipment on Honda vehicle control systems. Also, there will be a demonstration and discussion of Hybrid and Hydrogen technology, and finally a look at career possibilities with Honda and the automotive industry.

Plastics Make It Better
What do artificial hearts, race cars, pharmaceutical packaging, circuit boards, fighter jets, and the clothes you wear all have in common? Plastics! While we donít make those products, we do develop plastics engineering technologists who do. Join us for a hands-on introduction to plastic materials, processing, and career opportunities. You'll even make a batch or two of polymer slime and some injection molded make-and-take frisbees for the fun of it.

Your First Video Game
Learn how to make computer games and simulations with the "Game Maker" software. Game Maker is a sophisticated and yet an easy to use game engine that allows you to design and write computer games and simulations without any programming background. The software is freely available for download. It comes with an excellent set of tutorials. After an introduction to the IDE, we are going to follow a hands on tutorial to write and test a simple game. This class takes 2 sessions.

Occupational Therapy Assistant: Skills for the Job of Living

Dental Hygiene: A Career For You?
Come and visit the dental clinic and learn about the dental hygienists' role in patient education. We will use a computer-based education program to observe some of the ways this is accomplished. Raspberry Pi Anyone?
A Raspberry Pi is an amazing little computer that can fit in the palm of your hand, yet has enough power to run a home media center, internet radio, and more. The hands-on presentation will discuss the Raspberry Pi in general and review fundamental computer concepts. Students will work with a Raspberry Pi running a basic operating system (Raspbian), learn about components, and then operate the Raspberry Pi. Participants should have an interest in the subject.

Restoration Technologies: How a Ford Model T Works
Within this activity visitors will learn how a 1920's vintage Ford Model T engine works. They will experience the starting and operation of an early engine and how aspects of this early engine are still used on a modern vehicle. Visitors will also have the opportunity to see the process used in manufacturing body panels with the use of hammers, English wheels, and basic buck forming processes.

The Wildcat - Designing the PCT Roller Coaster
Engineering design and CAD software play a huge role in the development of theme park rides. In this session, students will use CAD software to create and simulate a new roller coaster design. Track layout options will be selected based on popularity, then modified in CAD using input from the group. Designs will then be simulated in the software by placing a car on the track to see how the coaster performs.

Each participant will have the opportunity to learn about the New Holland Excavator, including safety practices and controls. Participants will then have the opportunity to go one-on-one with the machine by picking up basketballs from construction cones and slam dunking them in a trash can.

As part of our Centennial, Penn College is celebrating with new art installments on campus. Sparks Making Parts
Various parts, such as pet tags, will be made with electrical discharge machining (EDM) and given to participants to take home. Activities include machine operation, molding, stamping, and polishing.
