The ServSafeÒ Certification Program

Certified Food Safety Professional Training

 

Introduction

Students desiring advanced credit for FHD 118 must complete a minimum of 16 hours of food safety training, submit a certificate of the training and have completed a comprehensive exam. The training and exam is valid if completed within 5 years of the application for advanced credit.

 

Training and certificates recognized for advanced credit: ServSafe® program of the Educational Foundation of the National Restaurant Association and Certified Food Safety Professional training through the National Environmental Health Association. Other food safety training and certificates will be considered on an individual basis by contacting the School of Hospitality.

Advanced Credit Requirements

Students who:

·        have received the ServSafeÒ Food Protection Manager Certification or Certified Food Safety Professional Training within the last five years of applying for advanced credit,

·        are accepted into the Baking & Pastry Arts, Culinary Arts and Systems, Culinary Arts Technology, or Hospitality Management degree programs, and

·        follow the advanced credit procedures below

will receive one credit for FHD 118, Sanitation.

 

Advanced Credit Procedures

After completing the first two requirements listed above the student must submit a copy of their ServSafeÒ Certificate or evidence of Certified Food Safety Professional Training and an application letter that states their intention to gain advanced credit to:

Following a review by the Dean, the student will receive a letter stating the School’s decision.  If the student earns the advanced credit, the information is entered on the student’s Official College transcript.
