Student Printing Quota
Penn College students can print to networked printers all over campus, including computer labs, the library, and selected "common" areas in each building. This printing is free up to a maximum of 1000 pages per student per semester.
A behind-the-scenes program logs all student printing from campus-owned computers as well as remote printing. If a student exceeds the per-semester maximum, a bill will be generated at the end of the semester for each extra page printed.
Counting Method:
- Each black & white page printed counts as 1 page of your allowance.
- Each color page printed counts as 5 pages of your allowance.*
- Two-sided printing is counted as a single b&w or color page.
*To avoid unintentional color printing, color-capable printers are set to print in black and white by default. To print in color, choose color in the printing preferences screen.
Price per Page (for printing beyond the 1000-page allowance):
- Black & white - 5 cents/page
- Color - 25 cents/page
Check your balance method(s) :
- Use the "Print Balance" icon that is located on the desktop of any Academic computer.
- Use SIS option "Check Print Balance" that is located under "Miscellaneous Information".
- Browse to https://printbalance.pct.edu and log in with your network credentials.
Helpful Hint! To conserve paper and your printing allowance, always use the print preview feature to make sure you want to print all pages. This is especially true of Web pages, because the URL/footer information often ends up alone on the last page.
If a printer jams during a printing session or runs out of toner while you are printing, you can use the print balance adjustment form to request that a certain number of pages be added back to your balance. You will need your network user ID and password as well as a reason for your request.
