Network File Storage
Students are given a private network storage area (or home drive) that can be accessed from on and off campus. The space can be used to store files and personal home pages. Other network drives are provided specifically for downloading and submitting course assignments. Network drives are subject to the College's IT Resources Acceptable Use Policy.
Accessing Network Drives
On-campus Computer Labs
- Log in to the network with your Network User name (preceded by "pct\") and Password.
- Use 'My Computer' to navigate to the appropriate drive.
Off-campus (including ResNet)* and in non-networked Macintosh Labs
- Use a Web browser to go to https://webdav.pct.edu.
- Log in with your Network User name (preceded by "pct\" and Password.
- After logging in, you will see a list of directories that correspond to the network drives explained below. The table below shows the corresponding network drives:
*Off-campus access is also available by using an FTP program, Creating a Network Place (Windows XP), or Creating a Network Location (Vista).
Network Drive Descriptions
H: drive ("Home"; private storage)
- Students' personal file storage.
- 200 MB storage space (If you need additional disk space for academic projects, contact the Student Help Desk.)
- Your network accounts will be maintained for one year after graduation. After that time, your account and all files saved on your H: drive will be deleted. To prevent losing valuable information, save any important files to an alternate location.
I: drive ("Homepage"; personal web page)
- Personal home page publishing
- 50 MB storage space (to request additional storage space, contact the Student Help Desk.)
- Your network accounts will be maintained for one year after graduation. After that time, your personal web page will be deleted. To prevent losing valuable information, save any important files to an alternate location.
* Be aware of electronic copyright issues
R: ("Readonly") and S: ("Submit") drives
- "R:" drive is used to retrieve course assignments from faculty.
- "S:" drive is used to submit or turn in your course assignments.
