Cultural Resource: The First Few Days

Register and prepare for classes. Make
final payments. Find out where services are located on campus.

surroundings. Locate the grocery store, post office, newsstand,
pharmacy, and other services.

Contact your family; they will be concerned
about you.

 Sleep. When you explore
new surroundings and speak a new language all day, you may need
more sleep.

Keep a journal about your
observations and impressions. It will
give you new insight into
your experiences.

Set small daily goals. This will help you gain a sense of achievement.

Keep a positive attitude. It will help you understand why the people
in your new country do things
in different ways.
