Alumni Awards/Recognition
As the Alumni Association Office continues to identify alumni, it is clear there are many graduates who have succeeded professionally or who are actively involved in civic or professional organizations, benefiting their community or employer.
Alumni Awards and Recognition nomination form
To recognize the diversity of the alumni and their successes, the following awards will be presented. The criteria used for selection is:
Distinguished Alumnus/Alumna Award – Presented at May commencement
- Has made significant contributions in his or her chosen field
- Has demonstrated the importance of his or her education at Penn College
- Has participated in leadership roles within the community and has demonstrated a commitment to college and community relations
- Must be a graduate of Williamsport Technical Institute, Williamsport Area Community College or Pennsylvania College of Technology
This award recognizes a graduate of Williamsport Technical Institute, Williamsport Area Community College or Pennsylvania College of Technology who has made significant contributions in his/her chosen field. He/She may also be chosen for making valuable contributions to their community, state or nation.
Alumnus/Alumna Achievement Award – Presented at May commencement
- Awarded to graduates of the last 10 years
- Achievement in at least one area including noteworthy professional or career accomplishments or dedicated volunteer service to the College or their community
- Has demonstrated the importance of his or her Penn College education
This award recognizes a graduate of Penn College who continues to support the mission of the College.
Alumni Citizenship/Humanitarian Award – Presented at December commencement
- Recognizes alumnus/alumna who provides distinguished community or volunteer service
- Has presented him/herself as a dedicated and loyal alumnus
- Is a graduate of Williamsport Technical Institute, Williamsport Area Community College or Pennsylvania College of Technology
Penn College currently encourages students to be actively involved in community activities utilizing the skills they have learned as an undergraduate. This award promotes the responsibility of graduates to participate in their community through volunteerism.
Outstanding Varsity Athletic Alumni Award – Presented during Homecoming weekend; 2 recipients
- A varsity athlete for 2 or more years
- Has demonstrated the importance of his or her education at Penn College
- Has participated in leadership roles and demonstrated a commitment to the community in which he or she resides
- Is a graduate of Williamsport Area Community College or Pennsylvania College of Technology
This award recognizes the accomplishments of the Penn College Varsity Athlete Alumni and the contributions made to their communities.
Award Selection
A committee – established by the Director of Alumni Association – of no more than five individuals will be appointed each year to review nominations received and recommend recipients for these awards. The selections will be presented to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement for forwarding to the President of Pennsylvania Collegeof Technology.
