Sam’s Background
As a student at South Williamsport High School, Sam Ranck found an interest in the business world. After an introduction to business theory and an evaluation of personal potential, Sam confirmed his decision to pursue a college education in business administration. Sam’s high SAT scores presented many college opportunities, but after attending a Penn College open house and reviewing the business program, he found the right fit. In 2006, Sam graduated from Penn College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
Little League International
Sam is the league development manager at Little League Baseball and Softball, a non-profit organization assisting youth in developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being. Sam is responsible for establishing new league charters throughout the United States. He travels frequently, collaborating with fellow Little League associates as well as YMCA organizations and the National Recreation and Park Association. Sam is also responsible for player management at this year’s Little League World Series. Managing team schedules to ensure all players are where they need to be at any given time and sheltering them from outside influences will be his main focus.
Penn College
When asked how Penn College prepared him for his current position, Sam highlighted his marketing and quantitative management classes. As league development manager, Sam promotes the benefits of Little League’s programs to his clients. Utilizing his sales skills, Sam successfully chartered 121 new leagues in the United States this year. As a team, he and his colleagues hope to charter 250 new American and international leagues by the end of 2008. Sam also praises the practical experiences Penn College provides its students. Data is a significant factor in Sam’s work as Little League constantly looks at numbers and industry trends to target the appropriate youth populations. Sam can accurately interpret the data and offer solid recommendations based on his Penn College education.
