Jill’s Background
Jill Hoffins-Erb grew up in the country setting of Lancaster County. Landscaping and yard work always interested her when working on the family farm. She started testing her interests as a member of the local 4-H club in numerous floral design competitions. Jill quickly found success and knew she should explore a profession in the field. She decided to take floral classes during high school and then chose to attend Penn College to further her education and refine her skills.
Floral Designs of Mount Joy
Today, Jill is the head designer and owner of Floral Designs of Mount Joy. Her creative approach and personal flair has found a niche in the market. Focusing on quality products, personal attention, and custom work for weddings, funerals, and other special occasions, Jill’s business is flourishing and well respected in the community. Although Penn College exposed Jill to a wide range of industry knowledge, which is applied to the daily operations of her business, Jill credits the teaching of detail most. The attention to detail creates a confidence in her products and services and continues to set Jill apart from the competition.
Advice
Jill offers advice for those interested in owning their own business. Find your niche and focus on satisfying the needs of your customers. Get involved in extra curricular activities too. The more people you interact with, the more you begin to learn how to deal with different personalities and different situations. The priority of Jill’s work is to understand the wants and needs of her clients. Her warm and outgoing personality supports her interactions but she wishes she would have been more involved to increase her experiences dealing with people. Owning a business is hard work and takes long hours but if you continue to be enthusiastic, the future can be very rewarding.
Future
Jill attends a variety of design shows on a regular basis to stay updated on the latest industry trends. She enjoys the challenge of matching a customer’s personal style to her products and services. The success experienced has Jill exploring the feasibility of purchasing a larger building and expanding to multi-locations. She continues to look forward but stays grounded to ensure the stability of her business. Under Jill’s leadership, Floral Designs of Mount Joy has a promising future.
