Frequently Asked Questiond (FAQs)

Q: Where do I park when I use the Fitness Center?

A: Parking lots are located on the north and south sides of the Campus Center. If you are a student, you must park in student approved parking spaces. If you are faculty/staff, you must park in faculty/staff approved parking spaces. Do not park in visitor parking spaces.

Q: What should I bring with me to the Fitness Center?

A:

  • Your current, valid Penn College ID
  • Bring a lock to secure your belongings in a Fitness Center locker while you work out. Once you have finished your workout, please remove your lock and belongings from the locker.
  • Bring headphones if you wish to listen to the Cardio Theater system.

Q: What type of clothing should I wear?

A: Wear appropriate workout clothes (NO jeans, sandals/flip-flops). Shirts must be worn at all times. Shoes must be clean and dry.

Q: Do I need to bring my own towels?

A: Towels are available at the front desk. Please return your towel to the attendant before you leave the Fitness Center.

Q: Where do I purchase a membership or day pass?

A: Purchase a membership or day-pass at the Information Desk on the first floor of the Campus Center. Present a current Penn College ID to the Info Desk attendant. Students can also purchase Fitness Center memberships via the Student Information System (SIS).

Q: Can I bring a guest to the Fitness Center?

A: Yes. If the guest is not a student or faculty/staff person from Penn College, you may purchase a day pass for them. A Penn College student or faculty/staff person must accompany the guest and present their current Penn College ID when the guest pass is purchased. The Penn College student or faculty/staff person must accompany the guest while using the Fitness Center facility.

Q: Can my spouse or children get a membership to the Fitness Center?

A: “Family Add-on” memberships are available to immediate family members (spouse and/or children over the age of 17) and may be purchased only when the student, faculty, or staff person has also purchased a membership.

Q: When does my membership expire?

A: The expiration date of your membership will be visible at the Fitness Center front desk computer when you have your ID scanned during the check-in process. Memberships expire on the Friday of Finals week. Summer memberships expire the Friday before Fall classes begin.

Q: What entertainment does the Fitness Center offer to make exercising more fun?

A: The Fitness Center plays a “whole house” stereo system. Additionally, we offer eight different TV stations on the Cardio Theater system. There is an additional TV in the free weight room.

Q: When is the best time to work out?

A: If you are an “early bird,” we are open at 6 a.m. However, if you choose to work out a little later, the best time is before 2 p.m.

Q: Do you have a sauna?

A: Yes! There is a private sauna in each locker room.

Q: Are you open in the summer?

A: Yes, we are open modified hours (dependant on staffing) over the summer. You must purchase a day pass or Summer Fitness Center membership at the Information Desk on the first floor of the Campus Center.

Q: What if I buy a membership and then decide to leave school? Can I still use the Fitness Center? Will I be able to get a refund?

A: Once you are no longer a student or employee at Penn College, you no longer have access to the Fitness Center, as it is a private facility. Additionally, there are no refunds for memberships or day passes.
