Q: How do I, as a parent, apply for a parent PLUS loan?
A: The steps to apply online are listed on our Loans page.
If you are a first-time user of the online process, you will first need to create an account before you proceed to the application. Be sure to read all instructions carefully, and remember to write down your user ID and password that is needed for future use. Contact AES if you have difficulty completing this online application.
Q: Can I get a pre-approval for a PLUS Loan?
A: If the lender you choose participates in the pre-approval process, an instant credit check will be performed. You can also be pre-approved via AES.
If your application for the Federal PLUS Loan passes the pre-approval process, you will be able to complete the PLUS Master Promissory Note (MPN) online.
If your parent PLUS application is denied, you may want to consider using an endorser (credit-worthy co-signer). For more information on using an endorser for a parent PLUS Loan, or to speak with an AES credit counselor, please call Loan Guaranty Services at (800) 692-7392.

Q: Can I use the same PLUS Master Promissory Note (MPN) if I have more than one student attending college?
