Certificate

This curriculum provides a basic understanding of machining and the fundamental hands-on skills needed for entry level positions in the machining industry. Students learn the principles and applications of machine tools commonly used in most shops. The major also provides training in the fundamentals of communication and mathematics.

Career Opportunities:  Entry-level machinist, machine repair mechanic, or set-up person for production line.

Recommended High School Subjects:  Industrial arts or vocational machining; two years of technical mathematics.

Remediation Strategies:  Students should remediate any deficiencies prior to enrollment in this major. Failure to do so will significantly lengthen the program.
