Introduction to Geometry

Survey of classical and modern geometry with an emphasis on conceptual development and applications. No prior exposure to geometry is assumed. Classical geometry topics include systems of measurement, planar and spatial figures, right triangles, area and volume, congruent/similar figures, geometric constructions, pattern recognition, symmetry, coordinate geometric, conic sections, and the geometry of growth. Modern geometry topics may include topics in Euclidean and non-Euclidean geometry. Traditional study is enhanced by demonstrations, projects, hands-on construction, and models. 3 Credits (2.50 Lecture - 1.50 Lab) Prerequisite(s): MTH005 or Placement by Examination.
