Horticulture Retail Operations
Examination of the business aspects of operating, managing, and marketing in a retail greenhouse with a focus on the day-to-day management of a retail horticulture business. Topics include the purchase and sale of soft and hard goods, specialized displays, and point-of-purchase information on the sale, care, and use (residential and commercial) of horticultural products. Study includes the use of computers and the Internet to track daily entries and sales, send wire orders, manage merchandise inventory, and buy and sell in the worldwide market. Emphasis on choosing and operating the proper fertilization, irrigation, and computerized environmental control equipment needed for a growing structure and the types of crops that are commonly produced and/or maintained in a retail greenhouse. 3 Credits (3 Lecture - 0 Lab)
