Clinical Issues in Health Information

Study designed to help bridge the gap between clinical staff who provide direct patient care and the allied health/support staff who do not provide direct patient care. Course work provides an understanding of how the documentation in the patient record should reflect the patient's prognosis, clinical findings, and discharge status. Topics also include the general principles of pharmacology, including classes of drugs, drug action and interaction; and adverse drug reactions. Discussion explores current issues, trends, and treatments used in medical practice. 2 Credits (2 Lecture - 0 Lab) As needed.
