Introduction to the discipline of health informatics, including history, basic knowledge of health informatics, data management, vocabularies, standards, and tools as applied in the support of health care delivery. The course presents the concepts and practices of the health informatics field, including the integration of computers with medicine; acquisition, storage, and use of medical data; essential concepts of medical computing; system design and standards for health informatics; ethics in health informatics; and relevant technology assessment. 3 Credits (3 Lecture - 0 Lab) Prerequisite(s): CSC110 or CSC124. As needed.
