Introduction to ICD-10 Coding

Introduction to various methods and systems for classifying patients, emphasizing the International Classification of Diseases and the Current Procedural Terminology classification systems. Study includes the conventions, principles, and guidelines for abstracting coding of diagnoses and procedures for hospital inpatient and outpatient medical records. Actual patient records from the program's patient record library are used in a supervised lab setting. An automated encoder and DRG grouper software program is demonstrated.
