Drugs and Society

Examination of the relationship between licit and illicit drug usage in society from a variety of sociological paradigms. Analysis includes how historical, legal, medical, economic, and political forces shape our norms, values, beliefs, and social institutions in relation to drug usage. Discussion also examines why drug usage has become so critical an issue in contemporary society. 3 Credits (3 Lecture - 0 Lab) Prerequisite(s): PSY111 or SOC111. As needed.
