Leadership and Management in Nursing

Introduction to the topic of leadership and management within the discipline of nursing. Leading and managing are two essential expectations of all professional nurses. To lead and to manage successfully, nurses must possess not only knowledge and skills, but also a caring and compassionate attitude. This course will merge nursing theory, research and practical application in key leadership and management areas. Topics include strategies in planning, goal setting and marketing, problem solving and decision making, managing time, leading and organizing groups of people, team building, care delivery systems and learning how to utilize empowerment in nursing. 3 Credits (3 Lecture - 0 Lab) Prerequisite(s): NUR327 and NUR352.
