Health Promotion in Health Care
Introduction to concepts related to the encouragement of positive health changes among individuals and groups. Health promotion is defined by Pender (1987) as "increasing the level of well being and self actualization of a given individual or group." Health promotion addresses the current health care issues of cost, increased life expectancy, and maintaining and/or improving one's quality of life. Topics include the changing populations and health; health policy and the health care delivery system; relevant ethical issues; individual, family, and community health assessment; and health education strategies. 3 Credits (3 Lecture - 0 Lab) Scheduled by Special Arrangement.
