Mathematics in Non-European Cultures I
Survey of mathematical ideas developed by non-European cultures, such as African, Asian, South Pacific Islands, and native North, Central, and South America. Includes culture and specific examples from the following areas of mathematics: number theory, topology, probability, group theory and logical structures. Designed as a two-semester sequence, MTH155 is to be followed with a 1-credit lab course (MTH156) that includes travel to the Mayan World and a final project and presentation. 2 Credits (2 Lecture - 0 Lab) Prerequisite(s): MTH006 or MTH124 or MTH151 or MTH153 or MTH160 or Placement by Examination.
