Retail Plantscape Design and Installation

HRT203

Overview of plant use and designs for landscape and interior plantscaping done in a retail garden center environment. Skills developed include preparing basic plantscape designs using client-based information; using plants and other accents in the landscape and interior of residential and commercial settings; and using proper planting, plant care, watering, and fertilization equipment and techniques. Additional topics include insect and disease control, maintenance schedules, plant care contracts specific to interiorscapes, and specific problems related to plant installation in the interior of existing structures. Emphasis on proper plant use and installation, basic plan view drawing, and other graphic presentation techniques for interior and exterior plantscapes. (Formerly HRT 215) 3 Credits (2 Lecture - 3 Lab) Prerequisite(s): HRT113 and HRT213. As needed.
