Study of the growth and development of Hispano and Luso America from the Age of Discovery and Conquests to the present day. Emphasis will be given to the interrelationships among the commercial sector, the Roman Catholic Church, the military, and the state and the effects of this relationship on the development of society. Special emphasis on the emergence, success and/or failure of democratic procedures, the relationship between Latin America and the United States and the future economic development of the region. 3 Credits (3 Lecture - 0 Lab) As needed.
