Technical Drawing, Print Reading and 2D CAD

Study designed for students enrolled in technical programs that require an understanding of basic mechanical drawing, print reading, and the fundamentals of 2D Computer-Aided Drafting. Provides an introduction to technical sketching. Provides basic instruction in 2D computer-aided drafting applications including saving, plotting, and editing CAD files. CAD software is used in the instruction of orthographic projection, geometric construction, sectional views, axonometric projection, dimensioning and technical notation, tolerancing, and auxiliary views. Included is the interpretation of drawings, symbols, notation, technical information, and geometric tolerancing used on industrial working drawings. 3 Credits (2 Lecture - 3 Lab) Fall Only.

AutoCAD - Comprehensive

Comprehensive application of 2D and 3D techniques using AutoCAD® software. Topics include the generation, editing, and analysis of geometry in alignment with industry standards with an emphasis on productivity. 3 Credits (2 Lecture - 3 Lab) Spring Only.

3D Parametric Modeling Using Autodesk Inventor®

Study and application of solid and surface modeling using Autodesk Inventor® parametric modeling software. Topics include the generation and editing of mechanical parts and assemblies, analysis of mass properties, rendering and animation, and the development of physical models using rapid prototyping (additive manufacturing) equipment. Also included are basic 3D-to-2D documentation techniques. 3 Credits (2 Lecture - 3 Lab)

CAD Management and Customization

Introduction to the customization and management of computer- aided drafting software for the purpose of increasing user productivity. Topics include customization of user interface and objects, as well as the creation of internal and external applications. CAD management responsibilities are explored. 3 Credits (2 Lecture - 3 Lab) Prerequisite(s): CAD120. Spring Only.

CAD Internship

Specialized off-campus, industry-based work experience that applies the knowledge and skills developed during Engineering Drafting and Design Technology. The experience also provides a functional understanding of the work environment, hones interpersonal and technical communication skills, and enhances social and civic competencies. Conducted in accordance with explicitly defined guidelines and procedures. 3 Credits (0 Lecture - 15 Internship)
