Engineering and Sustainability Principles for Industrial Design
Principles of material mechanics, engineering, safety, and sustainable design. Topics include material stress and strain relationships, thermal expansion, vibration, fatigue, corrosion, buckling, failure analysis, thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid dynamics, as well as an introduction to various mechanical drives and linkages. Focus on the design integration of product safety, intrinsically safe designs and regulatory issues related to safety with additional emphasis on sustainable design, considering embodied energy and product life cycle. 3 Credits (2 Lecture - 3 Lab) Prerequisite(s): BID110 and MTH160.
