Vehicle Propulsion Systems: Application and Design
Operating principles for alternatively fueled engines, such as those that burn Ethanol, Methanol, compressed natural gas (CNB), or propane (LPG), and the procedures for converting gasoline engines to use these fuels. Topics include the techniques for maintenance, refueling, and repair of alternatively fueled vehicles; the difference between these techniques and those used for traditional gasoline powered vehicles; and alternative propulsion systems such as electric, hybrid electric, and fuel cell. Discussion includes the potential effect of different fuels and automotive propulsion technologies on social interactions, employment of automotive technicians, business operations, the automotive industry, and world economy. 3 Credits (3 Lecture - 0 Lab) (Science, Technology and Society)
