Five Things You Should Know About the Fair
1 Employers are NOT just from the local area. They are from all over, as well as several Fortune 500 companies, and are recruiting for full-time, summer jobs, and internships.
2 "Think outside the box." Even though a company is recruiting for a specific major doesn’t mean there are no opportunities for you. Ask about other opportunities in the company. For example:
- Health science and fitness majors can ask about working with, or establishing, an employee wellness program for companies.
- Business majors can ask about potential opportunities in their human resources, marketing, or accounting departments.
- The possibilities are endless!
3 Freshmen, even if you are not looking for a job or an internship, this is a great way to gather information about career options and to network with employers!
4 Seniors, while some employers will be recruiting for full-time positions, you can also network with other recruiters to find out what other opportunities may be available and who you should contact.
5 First impressions count! Dress neatly and present yourself in a professional manner. Employers from previous job fairs have commented on sloppy appearances. If you're serious about getting a job or an internship....look the part!
If you don't have appropriate clothing, stop by the Career Gear Clothes Closet. Hours: Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
DON'T MISS OUT ON THESE OPPORTUNITIES!!!
** Note: Although the Fair is scheduled to run until 4 p.m., we strongly recommend that you plan to arrive before 3:30 p.m.
