NCWA Championships - Allen, Texas - Day Three (A)

ALLEN, Texas - At the National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA) National Championships, Pennsylvania College of Technology freshman Ryan Hart (Wyalusing) finished eighth at the 133 division and earned All-American status for the first time in his career. The Wildcats placed 20th out of the 30 Division I teams in attendance at the tournament held in Allen, Texas. California Baptist College took the top spot over second place McKendress University.

ALLEN, Texas – With a 4-3 decision over Central Florida, Pennsylvania College of Technology freshman Ryan Hart (Wyalusing) guaranteed himself an All-American spot in the 133 division. Hart is the last remaining Wildcat wrestler after day two of the National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA) National Championships in Allen, Texas. Three more wrestlers, junior Tyler Myers (Centre Hall) and sophomores Logan Gresock (Wadsworth, Ohio) and Paul Crutchlow (Morris Plains, N.J.), were eliminated from the tournament.

ALLEN, Texas – Freshman 133 Ryan Hart (Wyalusing) went 2-0 as the Pennsylvania College of Technology competed on day one of the National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA) National Championships in Allen, Texas. Over 400 wrestlers from 55 schools are in attendance for the event. Hart recorded a a major decision over Bowling Green State and a decision over The Apprentice School. He is the last remaining of the seven Wildcats in attendance in the championship bracket.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology hosted the Mid-East Conference Championships Saturday with 15 teams and 91 wrestlers in attendance. Freshman Ryan Hart (Wyalusing) won the 133 class and sophomore Logan Gresock (Wadsworth, Ohio) was runner up in 174. The Wildcats placed third as a team behind champion University of Maryland – Baltimore County and second place Penn State DuBois. The tournament is also a qualifier for the National Collegiate Wrestling Association Championships. In addition to Hart and Gresock making the cut, junior Tyler Myers (Centre Hall), sophomores Austin Clark (Elysburg) and Paul Crutchlow and freshmen Daniel Frankenfield (Dushore) and Alexander Muller (Sparta, N.J.) all earned berths.

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Three Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestlers competed in preliminary bouts at Bucknell University Friday evening. Junior Tyler Myers (Centre Hall) took down Ray Schlitz at 157 with a fall at 1:11. At 133, freshman Ryan Hart (Wyalusing) just lost in overtime 4-2 to Mark Edmonds. Freshman Cesar Gonzalez (Woodbridge, Va.) had a tough go with Bob Hauser at 141 losing an 11-1 major decision.

On Saturday, two Penn College wrestlers claimed individual championships and two others finished second Saturday during the PSUAC/United States Collegiate Athletic Association Invitational at Penn State’s Rec Hall.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology lost its first Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) match of the season to Penn State DuBois 46-10 Tuesday. Both teams came into the contest undefeated in the PSUAC, but the Wildcats, suffering from injuries, lost valuable points due to forfeits. Junior Tyler Myers (Centre Hall) and freshmen Ryan Hart (Wyalusing) and Daniel Frankenfield (Dushore) each recorded wins in the match as the team falls to 13-8 overall and 5-1 in the PSUAC.

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. - With the help of six pins, the Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestling team defeated Penn State New Kensington 48-12 Monday. The Wildcats dominated the bouts that saw three pins under one minute. The win improves the team to 5-0 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference and 13-7 overall.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - Eight Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestlers competed at the Jayhawk Open hosted by Jamestown Community College.Saturday Four Wildcats placed in the top four with junior Tyler Myers (Centre Hall) the top finisher taking second in the 157 bracket. After recording two pins in his earlier rounds, Myers lost to Tyler Button of Edinboro in a 10-9 decision in the championship bout.

LANCASTER, Pa. – Freshman Ryan Hart (Wyalusing) and junior Tyler Myers (Centre Hall) recorded pins in the Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestling team’s 36-3 win over Thaddeus Stevens Wednesday. Hart remains undefeated this season with a 9-0 record and three pins while Myers improves to 17-1 with 13. The win improves the Wildcats to 12-7 overall.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Sophomore Paul Crutchlow notched a win at 184 as four Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestlers competed in preliminary bouts at Lock Haven University Saturday. Crutchlow had a 5-2 decision over Joe Rimel in the only win for the Wildcats. He now improves to 7-6 on the year.

With the win, the Wildcats improve to 9-7 overall and 4-0 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.

ALFRED, N.Y. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestling team went 1-2 in a quad meet hosted by Alfred State on Saturday. The Wildcats defeated the host 27-24 before falling 26-24 to Mercyhurst North East and 34-15 to Bergen County Community College. Junior Tyler Myers (Centre Hall) went 3-0 on the day with two pins while sophomore Logan Gresock (Wadsworth, Ohio) was also a perfect 3-0 with one pin.

The Wildcats recorded seven pins on the day with sophomore Jasper Ocker (Burnham) and freshman Wade Jacobson (Alexandria, Va.) each recording two. The wins improve Penn College to 7-5 overall.

Sophomore Jasper Ocker (Burnham) and freshmen Ryan Hart (Wyalusing) and Wade Jacobson (Alexandria, Va.) all recorded pins in the victory. With the win, the Wildcats improve to 4-5 overall and 3-0 in the PSUAC.

Frederich, of Croton On Hudson, N.Y., in the 125-pound weight class; Kyle Sunseri, of Athens, at 141; Wade Jacobson, of Alexandria, Va., at 141; and Paul Crutchlow, of Morris Plains, N.J., at 174, all went 0-1 while Jasper Ocker, of Burnham, at 197, went 0-2.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestling team notched two wins Saturday as it hosted a Penn State University Athletic Conference tri-match. The Wildcats took down Penn State Beaver 42-0 and then won 40-9 over Penn State Mont Alto. Junior Tyler Myers (Centre Hall) continued his strong start to the season going 2-0 with two pins. His record for the year improves to 7-1 with seven pins. In addition, the wins improve the team to 3-5 overall and 2-0 in the PSUAC.

BALTIMORE, Md. - The Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestling team had a tough day against University of Maryland - Baltimore County losing 55-0. "We had a lot of guys injured," said head coach Schuyler Frey. "We weren't at 100 percent and we didn't wrestler to our potential." This is the second time the Wildcats have wrestled UMBC, losing to them at the Electric City Duals 49-12. With the loss, the team drops to 1-5 overall.

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestling team tied for third at the Electric City Duals hosted by the University of Scranton Saturday. UMBC took first place going 4-0 with The Apprentice School in second with a 3-1 record. Host Scranton, Penn State DuBois and Penn College all went 1-3 putting them all in the third place spot. Individually, junior Tyler Myers (Centre Hall) had an outstanding day going 4-0 pinning all his opponents. Sophomore Logan Gresock (Copley, Ohio) also had a perfect day going 4-0 with three pins.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestling team dropped its home opener 31-21 to The Apprentice School Friday night. The Wildcats had leads in the match, but some forfeits and a key pin dealt the team its first loss of the season. For Penn College, junior Tyler Myers (Centre Hall) pinned his opponent at 2:01 at 157 while freshman Tim Kuntz (Wyalusing) did the same at 149 in 4:51.
