WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. –With 14 teams and 99 wrestlers in attendance, the Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestling team took sixth overall as they hosted the Mid-East Conference Championships Saturday. University of Maryland – Baltimore County took first place for the second straight year with Penn State Mont-Alto taking second. Leading Penn College was sophomore Daniel Frankenfield (Dushore) who place third at 174. Frankenfield rallied after a first round loss to win five straight matches including two pins. In total, six Wildcat wrestlers qualified to move on to the National Collegiate Wrestling Association Championships in Allen, Texas.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – With over 75 wrestlers from nine teams competing Sunday at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association and Penn State University Athletic Conference Invitational, the Pennsylvania College of Technology placed six wrestlers on the podium helping the team to a sixth place finish. Freshman Patrick Fitzgerald (Port Royal) had the best finish of the day taking third place in the 197 division recording two pins and a tech fall on a 3-1 day. Also placing were freshmen Aaron Doll (Glen Rock) and Joe Champluvier (Laceyville) who each took fourth at 125 and 157, respectively. Junior Kyle Sunseri (Athens) took sixth at 149 as did sophomore Daniel Frankenfield (Dushore) at 174 and freshman Michael Failla (Beach Lake) at 197.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y.. – In their final tune-up before Sunday’s Penn State University Athletic Conference/United States Collegiate Athletic Association Championships, Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestlers competed last Sunday in the Jayhawk Open at Jamestown, N.Y., Community College and Wildcat Dan Frankenfield recorded a second-place finish in the 174-pound weight class.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior Kyle Sunseri (Athens) and freshman Aaron Doll (Glen Rock) each recorded a pin but the Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestling team was unable to overcome a solid Alfred State College squad losing 35-18. The Wildcats spotted Alfred State 18 points in forfeits in the match. Overall, Penn College took four bout wins in the match with Sunseri pinning his 149 opponent in 4:34 while Doll recorded his 133 fall in 2:02. With the loss, the Wildcats fall to 1-8 overall.

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Six Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestlers competed Sunday at the Shorty Hitchcock Open on the campus of Millersville University. Facing strong NCAA Division I and II competition, Penn College came up winless but had some strong performances.

MONT ALTO, Pa. – Freshman Troy Leid (Terre Hill) went 3-0 as the Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestling team competed at Penn State Mont Alto in a quad match Saturday. The Wildcats started the day off strong defeating UMBC 38-19 before falling 28-12 to Gloucester County Community College 28-12 and the host 41-12. The win against UMBC is the first on the year for Penn College and first ever against the program. They now are 1-7 overall in the season and 0-2 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestling team competed at the Mat Town Open Sunday hosted by Lock Haven University. A total of 12 Wildcat wrestlers went up against some of the top NCAA programs, most from Division II and III. While Penn College came out winless in the tournament, the team wrestled strong with some close match ups.

DUBOIS, Pa. – Freshman Troy Leid (Terre Hill) recorded a fall at 157 for the Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestling team as it competed in its first Penn State University Athletic Conference match of the year against Penn State DuBois. The Wildcats were just edged out losing 27-19 despite winning five bouts. Leid recorded the fall against Ty Haines at just 1:36. With the loss, Penn College falls to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in the PSUAC.

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestling team competed at the Electric City Duals hosted by the University of Scranton Saturday. The Wildcats had some strong bouts but were unable to string the wins together going 0-4 on the day. The Apprentice School won the event going 6-0 with Wilkes University the runner-up at 4-1.
