SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Despite leading 5-3 going into the final innings of the game, the Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team fell 9-5 to #4 Clark State Community College (Ohio) at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Championships. The loss is the second in the double elimination tournament ending the Wildcats’ season. They finish the year with an overall record of 23-14.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team lost 8-4 to #8 Selma University (Ala.) in the opening game of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Baseball Championships. The Wildcats committed four errors in the game and totaled only six hits contributing to the loss. Penn College (23-13) will face the loser of the #4 Clark State Community College and #5 Southern Virginia University game in the double elimination tournament.

BUTLER, Pa. – With two outs and two strikes on the batter in the bottom of the seventh, a passed ball eliminated the Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team from the Penn State University Athletic Conference playoffs as #1 Penn State Beaver won 5-4. The Lions had a runner on third with no outs, but freshman pitcher Zachary Buterbaugh (Conestoga) looked to be getting out of the jam with two straight strikeouts. With a 2-2 count in his favor, Buterbaugh delivered the pitch that just got by catcher Matt King (Southampton) allowing Beaver the victory. The loss is the second in the double elimination tournament and sends the Wildcats home. Senior Thomas Hughes (Easton) had two hits and an RBI in the loss.

BUTLER, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team dropped its first game of the Penn State University Athletic Conference playoffs in extra innings to #3 Penn State Greater Allegheny Thursday. The Wildcats led through most of the game but fell 6-3 in eight. Sophomore Josh Longsderff (Columbia) records the loss going seven innings with five earned runs and six strikeouts. Penn College (23-11, 14-5) is still alive in the double elimination tournament and will face off at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Pullman Park.

MEDIA, Pa. - Senior Skylar Gingrich (Lititz) went an impressive 6-8 (.750) with three home runs and nine RBI to lead the Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team in its split with Penn State Brandywine Tuesday. Needing only one win to clinch the #2 seed in the Penn State University Athletic Conference Championships, the Wildcats won game one 6-0. They then fell 10-5 in game two closing out the regular season 23-10 overall and 14-4 in the PSUAC.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior Garrett Hornung (Emporium) racked up there hits including a grand slam and eight RBI to lead the Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team in its sweep of Penn State Wilkes Barre Saturday. The Wildcats ended both games early with scores of 15-4 and 16-1. The wins improve the team to 22-9 overall and 13-3 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference and clinches a playoff berth.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team totaled 21 hits and 40 runs to sweep Penn State Scranton in conference action Thursday. Penn College won 27-0 and 13-0 and improves to 20-9 overall and 11-3 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference. Sophomores Jacob Wrenn (Granville, Mass) and Phil Carnevale (Carteret, N.J.) recorded the wins with shutouts. Senior Skylar Gingrich led all players with eight RBI in the two games.

NANTICOKE, Pa. - Sophomore Cody Buterbaugh (Conestoga) racked up five hits and five RBI to lead the Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team in its sweep of Luzerne County Community College. The Wildcats won 8-3 and 15-6 improving their overall record to 18-9. Sophomores Jarod Bull (Jacobus) and Brian Santangelo (Middletown, Conn.) recorded victories in the games.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Sophomore Josh Longsderff (Columbia) tossed a perfect game striking out eight to lead the Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team to a 6-0 win over Penn State Greater Allegheny. The loss is the first in-conference for Greater Allegheny this season. They won game one of the doubleheader over the Wildcats 4-2. The split improves Penn College to 16-9 overall and 9-3 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.

YORK, Pa. - Sophomores Jarod Bull (Jacobus) and Brian Santangelo (Middletown, Conn.) each recorded a win on the mound as the Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team swept Penn State York in conference action Tuesday. Bull won the first game 6-1 pitching five innings with four strikeouts and no runs. Santangelo won 9-2 in the second game also going five innings with three striekouts and one run. The win improves the Wildcats to 14-6 overall and 7-1 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior Skylar Gingrich (Lititz) racked up four hits, three RBI and two runs to lead the Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team as it split a conference doubleheader with Penn State Beaver Sunday. The Wildcats took game one 6-4 with sophomore Josh Longsderff (Columbia) getting the complete game win. Beaver just edged out the Wildcats for the win in game two getting the winning run in the seventh for a 3-2 victory. Penn College improves to 12-6 overall and 5-1 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference while Beaver is 7-6 and 3-1, respectively.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – After having a 4-0 lead though the first five innings, the Pennsylvania College of Technology lost 7-5 to King’s College Thursday. The Monarch’s staged a comeback capitalizing on errors and clutch hitting taking a 7-4 lead in the eighth. Despite the Wildcats scoring a run in the ninth, they held on to win it. Sophomore Cody Buterbaugh (Conestoga) led Penn College with three hits and two RBI. The loss drops the team to 7-5 overall.

The win improves the Wildcats to 6-4 overall. Sophomore Brian Santangelo (Middletown, Conn.) records the win going 4.1 innings striking out eight and allowing only one hit.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team scored 36 runs in two games to open the 2012 season 2-0 at the Ripken Experience Spring Break Tournament in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Wildcats defeated King’s College (Pa.) JV 18-4 followed up by an 18-6 win over Eastern University (Pa.) JV. “The weather today was really windy,” said head coach Chris Howard. “We battled through it and so far everything is looking good.”
