Sophomore Dan Starr finished second in the race, leading the Wildcats to a first place team finish

SCRANTON, Pa. – Sophomore Daniel Starr (Stewartstown) finished second and helped the Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s cross country team take first place at the Penn State Scranton Invitational Saturday. Starr recorded a time of 31:18 in the 8K race. The Wildcats placed first out of nine teams and had four runners finish in the top ten. The win is the first for the team this season.

Mere minutes separated the top finishers with freshman Dan Blauvelt (Flemington, N.J.) placing sixth in 32:47. Not far behind was freshman Michael Acquaro (Oakhurst, N.J.) in eighth in a time of 33:08 and junior Ed Knyff (Ocean Gate, N.J.) was right behind in ninth at 33:13.

Just out of the top ten was sophomore Daniel Flynn who placed 13th in a time of 33:43.

On the women’s side in the 6K, freshman Eileen Harrington finished 31st in a time of 44:51

Next up, Penn College travels to Misericordia University for the Cougar Classic on Saturday, Sept. 15.
