WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology softball team dropped a doubleheader to a strong Alfred University team Friday afternoon. The Saxon offense scored 37 runs winning 10-0 and 27-0. The losses drop the Wildcats to 1-9 overall.

In game one, the Saxons came out strong with four runs in the first inning. Penn College threatened in the bottom after freshman Emily Yoder (Catawissa) led off with a walk. She got into scoring position with a passed ball, but pitcher Angela Netta worked out of the jam.

Alfred tacked on another run in the second to make it 6-0. Sophomore pitcher Lacy Lose pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the third and held the Saxons scoreless for the next three innings before four runs in the sixth ended the game early 10-0. Lose ended the game with five earned runs, 12 hits and three strikeouts.

Freshmen Stephanie Koleno (Moshannon) and Rachel Heller (Allison Park) each notched a hit for the team.

Game two was all Alfred as the team put together a 22 hit effort. The Wildcat defense had some trouble committing 10 errors in the game. Pitcher Samantha Muller shut down the offense allowing no hits and striking out one in five innings of work.

Yoder records the loss with 13 earned runs and three strikeouts in five innings.

The Wildcats next travel to Elmira College on Saturday, Mar. 24 for a 1p.m. doubleheader.
