Leiby and Myers become the first All-Americans for the Penn College wrestling program

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.. – Freshman Derek Leiby (Troy) took third and sophomore Tyler Myers (Centre Hall) placed eighth on the final day of the National Collegiate Wrestling Association Championships. Lieby defeated Alexander Stemer of Simon Frasier College in the 149 third place bout. At 157, Myers lost a tough seventh place bout to Josh Ballard of McKendree College. Myers defeated Ballard 16-9 earlier in the tournament. Both placements earn the wrestlers All-American status, the first two for Penn College since the program's inception.

Lieby started out the final day againt #1 seed Dylan Cataline of California Baptist in the semiftinal bout losing a tight 8-7 decision. Cataline's winning point came from riding time. In consolation, Lieby decisioned Abram Alaya of Blair Academy to get to the third place medal bout. Myers, already starting the day in consolation lost to Pat Mosley of Witchita State in 7-4 decision placing him in the seventh place medal bout.

Going into the placement rounds, Penn College was 18th of the 79 teams in attendance. Final placements will be tallied and release at the All-American banquet Saturday night.
