The Wildcats finish up the tournament 4-3

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Senior Skylar Gingrich (Lititz) had a solo homerun but it wasn’t enough as the Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team dropped its final game of the 2012 Ripken Experience Tournament in Myrtle Beach, Fla. The Wildcats lost 5-2 to Danville College (Ill.) and now drop to 4-3 overall.

Freshman Jacob Wrenn (Granville, Mass.) got the start, pitching three innings with a strikeout, five walks, four hits and three earned runs. Danville scored two in the second and three in the third taking advantage of walks and errors. Sophomore Jarod Bull (Jacobus) stopped the offense with five strikeouts and four hits in the final four innings.

Gingrich’s homerun came in the fourth and put Penn College on the board. Freshman Zachary Buterbaugh (Conestoga) hit an RBI single in the fifth to score freshman Nicholas Fazio (Norristown) who got on with a single.

The Wildcats totaled six hits in the game.

Penn College next travels to Penn State Harrisburg on Wednesday, Mar. 14 for 1 p.m. doubleheader.
