Sophomore Dana Ritter had an RBI single in game one
NANTICOKE, Pa. - The Pennsylvania College of Technology softball dropped two to Luzerne County Community College Tuesday, losing 4-1 and 6-5. The Wildcats committed six errors between the two games accounting for seven unearned runs. The losses drop the team to 4-24 overall.
In the opener, freshman Emily Yoder (Catawissa) got the start for Penn College pitching a complete game with six strikeouts and one earned run. After a scoreless first, Luzerne scored a run in the seonc and two more in the third making it a 3-0 game.
Sopomore Dana Ritter (Walden, N.Y.) hit an RBI single to score freshman Abbey Winn (Howard) in the fifth to cut the run to two. Luzerne added another run in the sixth ending the game with the three point cushion.
The Wildcat offense totaled only four hits in the game .
In the second, freshman Stephanie Keifrider (Douglassville) pitched seven strong giving up only one earned run. Down 5-0 in fifth, Penn College came back to tie it off of two-RBI singles from Keifrider and freshman Casey Davis (New Albany). Luzerne also committed an error in the inning to score the fifth run.
Luzerne was able to score a run in the sixth and hold the lead for the victory. Keifrider ended the game with two hits while Davis had three hits including a triple. The Wildcats' offense improved in the game with 11 total team hits.
Next up, Penn College hosts Penn State Scranton on Thursday, Apr. 19 for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
