Yoder came in for injured pitcher Lacy Lose in game one
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology softball team lost 13-0 and 3-0 to Penn State Beaver Sunday. Beaver pitcher Korey Freyermuth recorded both wins, pitching a five-inning no-hitter in game two and giving up only two hits total in both games. Freshmen Britni Fennell (Conyngham) and Cora Bova (Port Allegany) recorded the only hits for the Wildcats. They now fall to 1-15 overall and 0-6 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.
Beaver came out swinging in game one totaling 14 hits. They got on the board early in the first with three runs. In the second inning for Penn College, freshman Emily Yoder (Catawissa) came in for starter Lacy Lose (Avis) after she took a hit to the face. Beaver made the quick adjustment scoring four runs and making it a 7-0 ballgame.
Fennell got the Wildcat’s first hit the game in the bottom of the second as she led off with a single. Freyermuth settled and struck out the next three batters ending the threat.
Beaver was held scoreless the next two innings but put up six runs fifth making it 13-0. Penn College could not respond with any runs ending the game early.
Bova had the other hit for the Wildcats.
Game two was closer as Lose was able to come back into the game and start. She held the Lions scoreless in the first. They plated two in the second off of two hits. They added one more in the fifth off an error. Officials ended the game early due to rain.
Freyermuth recorded the win pitching five innings with no hits and three strikeouts.
Next up, Penn College hosts Penn State Schuylkill for a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Tuesday, Apr. 3.
