The Wildcats were up 9-7 going into the bottom of the seventh
MONT ALTO, Pa. - The Pennsylvania College of Technology softball dropped two games to conference leader Penn State Mont Alto Thursday. The Wildcats fell 9-1 in the opener and followed with a tigh 10-9 loss. The loss drops Penn College to 1-11 overall and 0-2 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.
In game two, the Wildcats scored four in the top of seventh to go up 9-7. Sophomore Dana Ritter (Walden, N.Y.) and freshman Stephanie Koleno (Moshannon) each recorded RBI singles. Mont Alto staged a comeback in the bottom of the inning with four hits off of starter Lacy Lose (Avis), who was on her second game of the day, to take the 10-9 victory. Lose finished the game with four strikeouts and eight earned runs. Koleno ended with two hits.
Both teams put up runs early in the game with the Lions striking first with two in the first. Penn College countered with a run in the second off an RBI single from freshman Cora Bova (Port Allegany). She finished the game with two hits.
Down 7-1 in the fifth, the Wildcats plated three to cut the deficit. Freshmen Lindsey Anderson (Heber Springs, Ark.) and Abbey Winn (Howard) each notched RBI singles.
Penn College totaled eight hits in the game.
In the opener, Mont Alto put up eight runs in the first three innings. The Wildcats scored their only run of the game in the fourth when Ritter singled for an RBI. She ended the game with two hits.
The Lion pitching staff was strong allowing only three total hits from Penn College. Lose recorded the loss with four earned runs.
