Spring 2012 Softball: Elmira College

Freshman Stephanie Koleno led the Wildcats with four hits
ELMIRA, N.Y. - Despite four hits from freshman Stephanie Koleno (Moshannon), the Pennsylvania College of Tehnology softball team dropped two games to Elmira College Wednesday. The Wildcats were outscored 25-0 in the two games losing 15-0 and 10-0. The losses drop them to 2-18 overall.
In the opener, four errors in the first inning allowed Elmira to jump out to a 10-0 lead. They tacked on four more runs over the next three innings ending the game early. Sophomore Lacy Lose (Avis) recorded the loss giving up five unearned runs. Koleno was 3-3 in the game while freshmen Britni Fennell (Conygham) had two hits, including a double and Abbey Winn (Howard) two as well.
In the second game, freshman Stephanie Keifrider (Douglassville) had the start. The game was tight as the Eagles only had a 1-0 lead through the first three innings. Errors in the field allowed Elmira to score nine more runs ending it in five.
Kiefrider ended the game with two strikeouts giving up four earned runs. The Wildcats totaled three team hits with Koleno, Lose and Winn each recording a hit.
Penn College will look to bounce back as it hosts Penn State Hazleton on Wednesday, Apr. 11 for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
