Stephanie Koleno finished the day going 3-6 (.500) with an RBI
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Freshman Emily Yoder (Catawissa) was 3-7 (.429) with 2 RBI as the Pennsylvania College of Technology dropped two to Penn State Harrisburg Saturday. The Wildcats lost both games 7-3 dropping their overall record to 1-7. Freshman Stephanie Koleno (Moshannon) also had a strong day going 3-6 (.500) with an RBI.
In game one, Harrisburg jumped out early to a 2-0 lead off of three hits in the first. After tacking on another run in the second, the Wildcats cut the lead to one scoring two in the bottom of the second. After Koleno led off with a walk, sophomore Sabrina Reynolds (Muncy) hit a single and capitalized on an outfield error to put runners at second and third. Another error from Harrisburg scored Koleno and Yoder followed it up with an RBI single.
Yoder finished the game going 2-3.
After another run in the third, the Lions broke it open with three runs in the fourth, all on two outs. Penn College notched its final run in the fourth off an RBI triple from freshman Casey Davis (New Albany).
The Wildcats finished the game with five hits and three errors. Sophomore Lacy Lose (Avis) recorded the loss with three strikeouts, two earned runs and 10 hits in seven innings. Harrisburg’s Brittany Kringer earned the win with a complete game, four strikeout effort.
Game two again had Harrisburg striking first with a run in the opening inning off an outfield error. The Wildcats tied it up in the bottom scoring off a sac fly from freshman Stephanie Keifrider (Douglassville).
The Lions took the lead back in the fourth off an RBI double from Gabrielle Wolfe. Penn College again tied it up in the bottom this time off an RBI single from Koleno.
Koleno finished the game 2-3.
Freshman Megan Apker (Linden) came in relief for starter Yoder in the fourth and Harrisburg scored three unearned runs to take the 5-2 lead. In the bottom of the inning, Yoder singled to score Davis to make it a two-run game.
Harrisburg added a run in both the fifth and sixth to seal the victory. Gabrielle Wolfe earned the win while Yoder recorded the loss with five hits and an earned run in five innings.
For the game, Penn College totaled five hits.
The Wildcats next host Alfred University on Friday, Mar. 23 for a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
