Freshman Nicole Lapinski was first in the women's compound competition
HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology archery team had four individuals and three teams take first place at the Adam Wheatcroft Memorial Invitational hosted by James Madison University this weekend. Freshmen Matthew Cummings (Mountville) and Nicole Lapinski (Bloomsburg) won the men’s and women’s compound competition, respectively. Also, sophomore Kelvin Dewalt (Easton) and freshman Kendal Baier (Jersey Shore) took home first in the men’s and women’s bowhunter competitions, respectively. In the team competitions, women’s compound and both the men’s and women’s bowhunter teams earned top honors.
Four teams competed at the event including James Madison, Penn State University and Atlantic Cape Community College. Individually, the event attracted over 50 archers.
Also for the Wildcats, sophomore Ashley Baker (Coudersport) was third in women’s compound. In men’s compound, sophomore Zachary Bixby (Gillett) was second and junior Clint Hinton (Lock Haven) was third. In men’s recurve, senior Glen Thomas (Mercer) took second and sophomore Brandon Allison (Roaring Spring) third.
In women’s bowhunter, freshman Brianna Batykefer (Butler) placed second and freshman Eileen McKinney (New Brighton) third.
Next up, Penn College travels to the University of Connecticut on Friday, Apr. 14 for the New England Collegiate Archery Tournament.
