The Wildcats sent nine wresters to the open Saturday
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. –Sophomore Tyler Myers (Centre Hall) placed third at the 157 weight class as the Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestling team competed at the Jamestown Open in Jamestown, N.Y. Saturday. Nine wrestlers competed at the open for the Wildcats with Myers the only place finisher. “We saw some really good competition,” said head coach Schuyler Frey. “We wrestled tough and some of our guys were only a move or position away from placing.”
Myers went 4-1 on the day with two pins against AJ Milanak of Gannon and Irving Buck of Niagara Community College. Also for Penn College, freshman Kyle Sunseri (Athens) went 1-2 at 141 with a pin against Brian Paulson of Niargara. At 149, freshman Derek Leiby (Troy) went 2-2 with a tech fall (15-0) against Shawn Murphy of Niaraga and a major decision (14-2) against Corey Bowers of Mercyhurst College.
At 174, freshman Logan Gresock (Wadsworth, Ohio) went 2-2 with a pin against Ryan Taylor of Penn State DuBois and a major decision against teammate Paul Crutchlow.
Next up, Penn College hosts Penn State Fayette on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m.
