Fall 2011 Women's Volleyball: USCAA Championships - Louisville, KY #10 PSU Mont Alto

LOUISVILLE, K.Y. - The Pennsylvania College of Technology women's volleyball team lost 2-0 to PSU Mont Alto in the final game of pool play at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association national championship tournament. The loss drops the team out of the tournament having gone 0-4 in play. Freshman Courtney Gernert (Palmyra) nothed five kills to lead the Wildcats in the loss. The team ends the season 20-13 overall.

Penn College could not get any any rhythm in the match falling behind early in both sets. The team committed seven errors in set one leading to a 25-12 loss. The Wildcats were down 13-1 in set two before making a run to cut the lead. The damage was too much though and they fell 25-18.

As a team, Penn College totaled 13 kills and 23 digs. Senior Lyndsey Smith (Mechanicsburg) had nine assists and junior Tara Powell (Burgettstown) led the team with nine digs.
