The Wildcats competed against teams from top programs in the area

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestling team competed at the Mat Town Open hosted by Lock Haven University Saturday. The open attracted wrestlers from top programs and clubs all over the area including Lock Haven, Franklin and Marshall, Bloomsburg and Lehigh. Freshmen Alex Myers (Hatboro) and Drew Zettle (Spring Mills) each notched wins in their respective weight classes but nine other Wildcats came our winless at the highly competitive open. "It was good competition," said assistant coach David Livermore. "This is the toughest we have seen all year."

At 149, Zettle lost his opening round match to Lock Haven with a fall at 1:36. In the consolation round, he pinned his oponnent from a local wrestling club at 1:04. At 285, Myers lost his opening round to Virginia with a 16-1 technical fall but followed it up with a 3-1 win over Eastern Michigan with a 3-1 decision in consolation.

Also for Penn College, freshman Derek Leiby (Troy) had two close loses with a 6-5 decision to Cornell and a 6-1 decision to Lock Haven.

Next up, the Wildcats travel to Penn State University for the Nittany Lion Open on Sunday, Dec. 4.
