The Wildcats tied in their home opener of the 2011 season

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Three freshmen, Valeria Passalacqua (McAlisterville), Tiffany Turgeon (Hooversville) and Samantha Stutz (New Philadelphia) each netted goals as the Pennsylvania College of Technology women’s soccer team tied Cedar Crest College in the team’s first match of the 2011 season. The Wildcats were up 3-1 before the Falcons made a comeback to make it even and send it into overtime.

Cedar Crest (0-2-1) opened up scoring in the 21st before Passalacqua tied it up with an unassisted goal in the 25th. The Wildcats earned a corner in the 39th that led to Turgeon’s goal off a goalie rebound.

After coming out of the half, Stutz gave Penn College (0-0-1) the 3-1 lead with a strong shot into the left side of the goal. The Falcons did not give up scoring in the 70th and then the 80th to send it into overtime.

Both teams had chances in the two extra periods but could not convert. The Wildcats totaled 18 shots and four corners. Freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Koleno (Moshannon) had eight saves.

Penn College next travels to Baptist Bible College on Tuesday, Sept 13 for a 4pm game.
