The Wildctas improve to 4-6 overall with the win at Alfred
ALFRED, N.Y. – Freshman Melissa Lake (Winburne) led the Pennsylvania College of technology women’s volleyball team with 11 kills as it split a tri match with host Alfred University and Morrisville State. The Wildcats swept Morrisville State 3-0 in the opener but fell to Alfred 4-1. Senior Lyndsey Smith (Mechanicsburg) had 55 assists in the two matches.
Penn College (4-6, 1-0 PSUAC) made quick work of Morrisville State with a decisive 25-13, 25-16, 25-9 victory. Lake led the team with 9 kills while sophomore Paula Karine Monteiro (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) added six. Sophomore Lindsay Moyer (Canton) had four kills but was big on the serving line with seven aces.
In the nightcap, Moyer had six kills and notched five digs. Freshman Kelly Hebert (Wellsboro) also had six kills while sophomore Rachel Heller had a season high 14 digs. The Wildcats took the first set of the match 25-22 before Alfred came back to take the next three 25-23, 25-13, 25-18.
Penn College will next travel to Penn State Hazleton for a conference tri match with Penn State Wilkes Barre at noon.
