Junior Tara Powell had 10 kills in the loss to Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Despite 20 kills and 10 digs from sophomore Lindsay Moyer (Canton), the Pennsylvania College of Technology women’s volleyball team lost two hard fought contests to Lycoming College and Baptist Bible College Thursday. The Wildcats lost 3-0 to the Warriors and took the Crusaders to five as they fall to 1-4 overall.

Against Lycoming, Moyer had 11 kills while junior Tara Powell (Burgettstown) added 10. Penn College played a tough first set switching leads throughout before Lycoming squeaked through for the 28-26 win.

The Warriors took the next two sets 25-21 and 25-18 despite big runs from the Wildcats. Senior Lyndsey Smith (Mechanicsburg) had 25 assists in the match.

Things looked up in the second game against Baptist Bible as Penn College easily took set one 25-13. The Crusaders picked up their offense in game two to take it 25-21.

The Wildcats came back with another easy set victory at 25-15 before Baptist Bible sent it into the deciding set with a 25-16 fourth set win. They kept the momentum going and pulled it out 15-8 to seal the deal. Freshman Melissa Lake (Winburne) had 11 kills in the match while Smith stayed consistent with 23 assists and added 11 digs. Freshman Kasey Smith (New Park) led the team with 13 digs.

Penn College will look to bounce back when they travel to Penn State Harrisburg for a tri-match with Mt. Aloysius College on Saturday, Sept. 3. First match set to begin at 11 a.m.
