WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Freshman goalkeeper Aaron Volz (West Chester) had a season high 12 saves in the Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s soccer team tie with Lycoming College. The 0-0 game was the second annual Battle for the Lumber held at Balls Mills Complex.

Both teams had opportunities throughout the match. Lycoming (4-2-1) outshot the Wildcats 38-14. The team also notched more corners 12-1.

Sophomore Godwin Omo-Ekpadi had a chance to win it for Penn College (2-1-2) in the opening minutes of the first overtime when he ripped one that hit the right post. Volz stayed sharp making 3 saves in the extra periods.

Junior Isaac Hostetter (Lebanon), sophomores Phil Bair (Franklintown) and Cody Sollenberger (Lancaster) and freshman Ivan Hernandez (West Grove) all had outstanding games in defense for the Wildcats.

The Warriors will retain the Lumber trophy since they had previously held it after last year’s 2-0 win.

Next up, Penn College will continue non-conference play when it hosts Wilkes University, on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 5 p.m.
