Sophomore Desiree Buffington notched a hit in the loss
AKRON, Ohio. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology softball team lost 7-0 to #5 Spaulding University at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Championships Saturday. The Wildcats opened up the double-elimination tournament with a loss to top seed Rochester College. They will now face #3 St. Joseph’s in a consolation game.
It was a tight game through the first three innings. Penn College (14-15) held Spaulding to just three runs through the first three innings. A big four-run fourth gave the team a comfortable lead and sealed the victory.
Senior Tiffany Deihm (Mohnton) recorded the loss with six earned runs. The Wildcats scattered five hits in the game. Deihm, junior Erin Bannon (Williamsport), sophomores Desiree Buffington (Pillow) and Lacy Lose (Avis) and freshman Kelsie Witmer (Centre Hall) each had hits.
The Wildcats will play their consolation game at 10 a.m. on Sun., May 8.
