AKRON, Ohio – Despite a home run from sophomore Michelle Goodling (Renovo), the Pennsylvania College of Technology softball team lost 9-1 to #1 Rochester College in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Softball Championships. The Wildcats fall to the loser’s bracket in the double elimination tournament and will play later tonight.
Penn College (14-14) had a tough day against the top seed earning only two hits off the Rochester pitching staff. Besides Goodling’s home run, sophomore Lacy Lose (Avis) notched a single. Lose recorded the loss on the mound for the Wildcats with eight earned runs and four strikeouts.
Rochester put three runs on the board in the first and added two more in the second. A four-run fourth put the game away. Goodling homered in the top of the inning but no other runs were scored causing an early end.
The Wildcats will face the loser of #4 Penn State Beaver and #5 Spaulding University at 8 p.m.
