Senior Trisha Moser notched a hit in the loss

ALTOONA, Pa. – Despite two hits and an RBI from junior Erin Bannon (Williamsport), the Pennsylvania College of Technology softball team lost 6-2 to Penn State Hazleton in the Penn State University Athletic Conference playoffs Saturday. Both teams were in the loser’s bracket of the double elimination tournament. The win sent Hazleton to the championship game against Penn State Mont Alto.

Penn College (14-13, 10-5 PSUAC) committed three errors in the first to allow two runs from the Lions. Another error and a couple of hits in the third made it a 4-0 game.

The Wildcat struck back in the bottom of the third when Bannon hit a two-out double to center to score two runs and cut the lead in half. Hazleton came right back in the fourth with two more runs to keep the gap at four.

Also for Penn College, senior Tiffany Deihm (Mohnton) had two hits while senior Trisha Moser (Watsontown) and freshman Sabrina Reynolds (Muncy) each notched a hit.

The Wildcats have earned a berth into the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Championships and will travel to Akron, Ohio on Thurs., May 5 for the five-day tournament.
