Sophomore Josh Longsderff pitched seven giving up six hits

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology just missed upsetting #1 Penn State Greater Allegheny as the team fell 2-1 Friday night. The Wildcats held a 1-0 lead until the sixth when Greater Allegheny tied the game and then took the win in the seventh. The loss drops Penn College to the loser’s bracket where it will take on Penn State Beaver.

Sophomore Josh Longsderff (Columbia) took the loss pitching seven innings and giving up six hits.

Penn College (21-10, 12-7) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first off an RBI single from senior Ethan Boyd (Roaring Spring). Four scoreless innings followed until the Lions struck in the sixth off two consecutive hits.

The Wildcat defense pulled a double play to get out of the inning. A two-out pinch hit double in the seventh ended the game in favor of Greater Allegheny.

Penn College had its chances leaving nine runners on base.

Tomorrow, the Wildcats will take on Beaver at noon on Medler Field.
